Colored people come in all colors Sounds like a statement made by a pre-kindergarden child ,right? WRONG! This statement was actually made by Kweisi Mfume (Chief Mucky Muck of NAACP ) on Feb 24 at the University of Florida while speaking to a sparsely attended event at the Gainsville, Florida College sponsored by the speakers bureau of the Accent, Student Government (ASG) during "Black History Month" . He told the small audience (they gave the excuse that attendance was down due to a basketball game at the college that night and also because of of the Institute of Black Cultures anniversary celebration.) "Jim crow Sr might be dead, but Jim Crow Jr is alive and well". ( The NAAWP Florida Chapter Inc says, Baloney !!! Mfume, There is no institutional shame in America and there is no hole in the soul of White America. Jim Crow is alive and well only in your perverted mind.) He encouraged his timid audience to "get angry" about the Hate Crimes that have been brought to America . When I went to school, I learned that, in order for something to be "BROUGHT" to a place it first had to be somewhere else. Mr Mfume did not tell his listeners where the hate crimes came from. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out. He urged the few whites in the auditorium to not only understand the African Americans grievances, but to also empathize with them. In all fairness he did encourage the blacks in attendance to "get beyond the blame and excuses" and start doing for themselves."Nowhere in our history", he said "have we practiced liberty and justice for all". He further intoned that "we have come a long way, but we still have a long way to go" Sounds like nothing is ever going to be enough for the blacks in this country or their pity pot megaphone the NAACP. We are in the process of contacting the (ASG) at the University to find out about having someone from the "other side" (US) speak to the students. |
